Hollerin’ At Funerals
Black people love hollerin’ at funerals. Ladies in white dresses and white gloves run about fanning black folk who can barely contain their grief. There is always at least one person, nearly always a female, who suddenly jumps up, hollers, “Oh Lawd Bless Jesus! Why did the Lawd have to take him from me so soon! Why did the Lawd have to take June Bug!” This is accompanied by tears streaming down her face, hands thus up in the air, then brought down in front of her and shook. Everybody watchout now, cause here she come down. Somebody grab her big ass and ease her back down on her seat and straighten her wig out for her. Also, there’s always someone manhandling the corpse crying and carrying on until somebody come to lead them back to their seat. And last but not least, there’s always someone who flings themself into the grave, begging the lawd to take them, too!
Personally, I think screamin’ and hollerin’ at a funeral is good for the soul and more folks other than black folks should try it, too. When you’ve lost a loved one, decorum should fly out the window right along with your shoe when you kick your legs up in the air and flop out and roll around on the ground. I say more hollerin’ at funerals, means less Prozac. Yes, Lawd, hollerin’ at funerals. Black people love that shit.
On a Serious Tip:
All too, unfortunately, often, it is a June Bug who has been taken away - in some gun related way:
BLACK ON BLACK CRIME STATISTICS
While African Americans comprise 12% of the U.S. population, 45% of all murder victims in 2002 were African American, 91% of whom were killed by African Americans. Nationally, homicide is the leading cause of death for black men and second leading cause of death for black women ages 15-24. There have been over 250 homicides reported over the last 5-6 years in Pulaski County. United States spends an average of over $4.5 billion on emergency and physical/occupational therapy associated with crime-related injuries/deaths.
About Shit Black People Love (and Hate)
Well I was minding my own business surfing the net and hit upon the very popular “Stuff White People Like” blog. I actually thought that site was being written by a black person, but actually the author is white. Hmmm. Anyway that got me to thinking about what black folks like and came up with 75 things they like in 10 minutes. So I said, well, I guess I have me a blog. And while some black people may be offended (black people get a sense of humor and be able to laugh at yourselves), they will know that every single word is true. Hey, and check out CrAcKeR CoMmEnTs.
